Welcome to Baking it Rich!
Hello, and thank you for viewing my blog! Since I was a child I have always loved baking. So, I thought it would be a great idea to create a place online where I could share recipes, pictures, and tips on baking with other people who enjoy the same thing. Please feel free to look around, comment, share, post, follow (must sign in with gmail) and most importantly, try out some recipes!
Hope to hear from you,
Kaitlyn
Snickerdoodles!
Snickerdoodles--A classic.
Snickerdoodles will always be a classic recipe. I'm not a big fan of crunchy, rock-hard cookies. That's why I love these Snickerdoodles. They are light and chewy, just like every cookie should be. One cookie is the perfect amount of sugary sweetness to get you through the afternoon. If it's been a rough day, then go ahead and take another. They are a great comfort food, so I'm sharing this recipe to keep your spirits high!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened at room temperature
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening, or substitute another 1/2 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Cream together the butter, shortening and sugar. Then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Mix into the butter mixture.
- On a small plate or in a small bowl mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon. Use your hands to shape balls of dough and roll in the cinnamon sugar. Use extra flour as needed.
- Place on a greased baking sheet and bake for about 8-10 minutes. Grab some milk and enjoy!
